Stand

I have a message called “Armed for Battle,” and I have designed my own “Ami version” of the armor of God. Let’s just say it is unique, memorable, and reflects my personality. As I was preparing this blog post I felt led to share Ephesians 6:13-17 with you:

“Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then with the waist belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.”

In these verses, it says STAND 3 times: “Stand your ground,” “When you have done everything – stand,” and “Stand firm.”

I feel like someone needs to hear this today. Stand Firm in God’s Word. Stand your ground. Some of you have endured a long season of illness, loneliness, loss, or you’re in a job you don’t like. Stand firm! You may feel like your knees are weak, you’re tired or frustrated, and you feel like you can’t possibly take one more blow. Stand your ground!

This week I want you to picture yourself with your feet firmly planted and standing with your head held high, ready to stand firm against whatever it is you are facing. Visualize yourself standing your ground with your own version of the armor of God, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness of peace, taking up your shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.

You wouldn’t go into a battle unprepared, and Paul is telling us in Ephesians 6 to suit up daily. Stand firm in truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
